1. Meet, greet and sign in, new attendees adding addresses to roster, at 2 p.m.
A. Sara Seltzer called the meeting to order at 2:01 p.m. Present besides Seltzer: Sheila Torres, Rae Miller, David Besenfelder, Sue Jones and Robbee Royce.
2. September minutes unanimously approved on a voice vote.
3. Treasurer Torres reported a petty cash balance of $49.20 and a bank balance of $195.23. Unanimously approved on a voice vote.
4. Library report: listings updated on website, holdings shelved at librarian’s home, much to choose from, borrowers invited.
5. Old business:
A. Horse rescue donations: Besenfelder noted that AAEP donations may also have helped Puerto Rico horses in wake of hurricane.
B. Oct. 14 Community Service Day canceled due to wildfire pollution.
C. Next Activities Council meeting 9 a.m. Oct. 17, Fireside Room.
6. New business:
A. Holiday party: supplies to be inventoried; time, date, menu, program discussed; last year’s event reviewed; further discussion at November meeting.
B. Besenfelder suggested, in an effort to increase participation, refreshments at meetings, horse movie at Peacock.
7. Sharing:
A. Tenny update
B. Besenfelder: Camino to run at Santa Anita, Vertigo injured; Breeders Cup Nov. 3-4 at DelMar; racing at GGF Oct. 19-Dec. 10.
C. Miller showed photos, reviewed role of horses in WW1 in which an estimated 6 million were killed.
8. The meeting was adjourned at 3:04 p.m.
The next meeting is scheduled at 2 p.m. Monday, Nov. 13, 2017.
