1. Meet, greet and sign in at 1p.m., new attendees providing phone numbers, street and email addresses.
2. Denise Malvini called the meeting to order at 1:02 p.m. Present besides Malvini: Sheila Torres, Bill Quarles, Robbee Royce, Rae Miller, Bobby and David Besenfelder, Kathy Ornett, Zina Mirsky, Adi and Roberta Adins and Wendy Markel.
3. February minutes: approved on motion by Malvini, second by Royce.
4. Treasurer report: $151.05 bank balance; $32.38 petty cash, $183.43 total. Unanimously approved on motion by Miller, second by Royce.
5. Webmaster report: tabled.
6. Librarian report: checkouts invited; collection of books, DVDs, magazines maintained at Royce’s home, 1940 Skycrest,
Entry 13, closed Tuesday mornings. She handed out copies of a Parade Magazine article, “The Healing Power of Horses”.
7. Old business:
A. Dues payable – mail slot in Gateway. Besenfelder’s motion to make dues payable starting Jan. 1 unanimously approved.
B. Fundraising ideas – Malvini exploring volunteering to take inventory at McCullough’s and David and Bryan’s. Payment would be donated to our club. Bobby Besenfelder to explore Gianni’s Tips for Change as fundraiser. Markle to find out if Derby event possible fundraiser.
8. New Business:
A. Nominations for officers, board members: Unanimously elected were Malvini as president protem, Quarles as vice president, Besenfelder as program chairman. All other officers and board members unanimously re-elected.
B. On a motion by Milller, seconded by Besenfelder, a senior membership in the Equestrian Club of Walnut Creek was approved. Quarles will be the Horse Club’s representative.
9. Sharing:
A. Bailey update: Sheila, Carla groomed, worked her in the arena.
B. Racing update: Camino second in sprint, Run Factor in rehab after surgery for bone chip, Love Solution claimed and 2-year-old filly in training. More than 20 horses euthanized at Santa Anita, tracks being studied as source of problems.
10. The meeting was adjourned at 2:14 p.m.
The next meeting will be at 1 p.m. Monday, April 8, 2019.
