3/12/18 Minutes
1. Meet, greet and sign in, new attendees providing phone numbers, at 1 p.m.
A. Denise Malvini called the meeting to order at 1:01 p.m. Present besides Seltzer: Marcia Liberson, Sheila Torres, Scott Wachenheim, Beth Wachenheim, Diana St. James, Mary Kay Billington, Denise Malvini, Wendy Markel, Anne Shulenberger, Rosemary Fischer, David Besenfelder, and Bobby Besenfelder.
2. February minutes unanimously approved on a motion by Malvini, seconded by Seltzer.
3. Treasurer Torres reported a petty cash balance of $46.20 and a bank balance of $211.47. Unanimously approved on a voice vote. Eight members have paid their 2018 dues.
4. Library report: The librarian was not present to update the library status.
5. Webmaster report: The webmaster was not present to update the website status.
6. Old business:
A. Reinstein Ranch- Interest is still expressed, however, calls and an e mail to the ranch have not been returned.
B. Derby Party and June 23 Flea Market. The Derby Party on May 5 is being monitored through Denise Malvini. Comments were entertained regarding food, costmes, and activities. The June 23 Flea Market will require table sign ups in May, as soon as the Rossmoor News publishes availability. Members contributed thoughts and ideas, and Ann Shulenberg may contribute horse-related ceramic sculptures/plaques.
C. Xenophon – Seltzer and Malvini will pursue volunteer activities with Xenophon. Seltzer e mailed the organization, but has not received a response.
7. New business:
A. Officer Elections – Seltzer opened nominations for annual officer and/or volunteer board members nominations. All current officers (Miller- Secretary, Torres-Treasurer, Seltzer-Vice-President,) volunteered to continue on in current positions. Malvini volunteered for President, Seltzer opened election, approval was unanimous. Reese, Nordgren, also agreed to stay on in volunteer board positions, for another year as librarian, webmaster, respectively. Activities coordinator/public relations position (Rae Miller) assumed same.
8. Sharing:
A. Diana St. James ‘ Omigata presentation covered the animal communicator’s experiences and insights from her psychologically-attuned relationship with the special Omigata, and branched out into questions and answers about how, where and when her skills developed and allowed her to receive specific as well as general information from her horse. This was a unique presentation, holding all attendees’ attention and interest. Questions and answers raised more ideas in this special area.
B. Tenny update: Lew and Torres on Mondays. Tenny is 35 years old, and is stumbling.
C. Racing update: Camino’s Santa Anita race scheduled for April 15; Besenfelder lost Invertigo, claimed for 3200. New horse purchases include, San Luis Rey ( 200,000), and a 2-year-old filly, Love Solution.
9. The meeting was adjourned at 2:22 p.m.
The next meeting will at 1 p.m. Monday, April 9, 2018.
