2. Minutes of the March 21 meeting tabled until the May meeting.
3. Treasurer’s report –
a. Dues for 2016 are payable, and those collected before they are due in May will not be due until May 2017.
b. Balance in the club account is $109.94 reflecting payments to Paul for display case supplies, $9.12, and Miller for name tags, $3.27. Unanimously approved on a Hoffpauir motion, seconded by Landucci.
4. Old business:
a. Creation of a club web site discussed. Gilbert, Seltzer, Lehnus and Miller volunteered to explore possible sources of assistance. Besenfelder urged members to look at various horse-related web sites for design ideas.
b. Royce completed list of club library holdings, and Miller emailed it to members.
c. Channel 28 report – Moreau reported club information posted on Channel 28, and Malvini volunteered to check on repeating the content and adding graphics.
d. Election of officers – with no further nominations, on a motion by Hoffpauir seconded by Royce, the slate was unanimously approved: Denise Malvini, president; Kathie Paul, vice president; Rae Miller, secretary; Sheila Torres, treasurer. During a discussion of other board members, established in the bylaws revision approved at the March meeting, Barbara Gilbert agreed to be activities coordinator. She will explore possible driving horse and Canine Companions programs. The annual Horse Expo in Sacramento will be June 10-12.
5. New business:
a. GRF’s decision regarding horse pasture – Moreau had invited CEO Tim O’Keefe to April meeting to clarify policy, and he and Jeff Matheson, director of Resident Services, will attend June meeting. Discussion followed on what information to request. Torres suggested a forum, solicitation of letters to the club and a press release to determine interest in continuing the tradition of horses at Rossmoor. Royce to research Rossmoor News for stories on the horse stable controversy and subsequent removal of the stable. Miller is researching horse facilities at other Leisure World locations.
6. Sharing
a. Xenophon report– Laura Bernell unable to attend. Miller to follow up for May meeting.
b. Besenfelder shared photo of his winning horse at Golden Gate Fields.
c. Tracy McDermott moving to Minnesota, urged to continue club membership.
d. Moreau invited members to visit her at her ranch, where she lives during spring and summer.
