1. Meet, greet and sign in, new attendees adding addresses to roster, at 2 p.m.
A. Sara Seltzer called the meeting to order at 2:04 p.m. Present besides Seltzer: Sheila Torres, Robbee Royce, Rae Miller, Mary Dodds, Diana St. James, Loreta Landucci, Jennie Lew, Diane West and Sandra Nordgren.
2. July minutes unanimously approved on a motion by Royce, seconded by Torres.
3. Treasurer Torres reported a petty cash balance of $49.20 and a bank balance of $405.23 with a total balance of $454.43. Membership update listed 20 paid members.
4. Library report: Librarian emailed updated library holdings to webmaster for posting on club’s website www.horseenthusiasts.weebly.com.
5. Webmaster reported book reviews, DVDs linked to library list on website and suggested horse rescue sites be posted on AmazonSmiles.com, where donations to the rescue groups can be made.
6. Old business:
A. Current meeting day, time confirmed. Rec. Dept. room reservations for 2018 required; members OK’d room, day and favored 4 p.m. meeting time, which will be requested when treasurer and secretary meet with reservation person.
7. New business:
A. Landucci is trying to contact Livermore rescue regarding visit/lessons/volunteering. Several members expressed interest in lessons, trail riding. Contact info: www.doubleheartsridingandrescue.com; 925-339-5518
B. Royce said she would like to attend the Aug. 15 Thoroughbred yearling sale.
C. St. James said admission will be free to the dressage competition, Sept. 21-24, at Rancho Murieta in Sacramento County. She will email schedules as they become available.
8. Sharing:
A. Royce forwarded research on the use of marijuana for equine pain relief to Tasha’s owner. Tasha is being treated for severe founder.
B. Members offered brief film reviews of films and books: “Okja” (animal rights) , “Harry and Snowman” (horse rescue) and “War Horse” (WWI)
9. The meeting was adjourned at 2:58 p.m.
The next meeting is scheduled at 2 p.m. Monday, Sept. 11, 2017.
