1. Meet, greet and sign in, adding addresses to roster, at 4 p.m.
a. Marilyn Hoffpauir called the meeting to order at 4:10 p.m. Present besides Hoffpauir were Kathie Paul, Sheila Torres, Barbara Gilbert, Robbee Royce, David Besenfelder, Ardean Lehnus, Sara Seltzer, Rae Miller.
2. Each gave a brief introduction.
3. Minutes of the June 20 meeting were read. On a motion by Hoffpauir, seconded by Seltzer, the minutes were unanimously approved.
4. Treasurer’s report –
a. Annual dues of $10 were collected from 2 attendees, bringing to 12 the total paid membership. Dues for 2015 are payable and will be due annually at the May meetings.
b. An initial deposit of $100 in club dues was made on 7/6/15 with $50 withdrawn on 8/17/15 for petty cash. Hoffpauir was reimbursed $20.55 for purchase of club supplies, and Miller was reimbursed $12 for 2016 room reservations and insurance. Balance in the club account is $67.45 pending deposit of dues collected at this meeting.
4. Activities for group participation –
a. Besenfelder offered to host a visit to training and the stable area at Golden Gate Fields, probably on a Sunday morning. A signup sheet was circulated to determine interest.
b. Miller circulated a schedule of classes at Xenophon Therapeutic Riding Center, also noting the center’s annual horse show, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 26. A signup sheet was circulated to determine interest.
5. Web site – Kathie Paul volunteered to contact Carl Brown for possible assistance in setting up a club web site.
6. Library setup – Robbee Royce, club librarian, will write a job description to include storing and loaning of books, DVDs, and other horse-related items. Barbara Gilbert donated two books.
7. Activities Council –The Activities Council meets on the third Tuesday bimonthly. A member of the club is required at each meeting at 9 a.m. for a social hour, followed by the meeting at 9:30 a.m. Seltzer volunteered to attend the next meeting on Oct. 20. Royce will attend the December meeting; Paul, February; and Miller, April. The council does not meet July through September. Club representatives have an opportunity to report on their club’s activities.
8. Miller displayed posters promoting the club, and two members said they would post them at the Fitness Center and/or other venues.
The meeting was adjourned at 5:20 p.m.
The next meeting will be at 4 p.m. Sept. 21.
