9/10/18 Minutes
1. Meet, greet and sign in, new attendees providing phone numbers, street and email addresses at 1 p.m.
2. Denise Malvini called the meeting to order at 1:04 p.m. Present besides Malvini: Rae Miller, Sandra Nordgren, Sheila Torres, Robbee Royce, Anne Shulenberger and Adi and Roberta Adins.
3. August Minutes: approved on motion by Torres, second by Royce.
4. Treasurer report: $625.15 bank balance; $32.88 petty cash, $658.03 total. Unanimously approved on motion by Miller, second by Malvini. Miller sent thank-you note to Bill Quarles for check to add to Flea Market donation.
5. Librarian report: checkouts invited.
6. Webmaster report: blog added to website allowing feedback on postings not accessible; deemed unnecessary.
7. Old business:
A. Flea Market , Quarles donation: Unwanted Horse Coalition, Mini Horse Rescue, other possible recipients discussed. NeighSavers representative not available to attend a meeting until next spring.* Malvini advised to await input from Besenfelder.
B. Club room reservation for 2019: Miller, Torres to meet with Rec. Dept. Oct. 25, advised to keep current room time due to difficulty for change. Will make reservation for Jan. 14
C. Sept. 15 Flea Market: Cancelled; Seltzer out of town. Items being collected, stored for next year’s event.
8. New Business:
A. Updated website: See 6.
B. Coming Events: Carpool email signup will be offered for Sept. 29 Xenophon Horse Show; paid membership not required. May be carpooling to Sept. 16 Mini Horse Show at Equestrian Center. Torres to handle reservations for Dec. 3 Xenophon benefit dinner; details coming.
C. Future uncertain for Heather Farm Equestrian Center; stay tuned.
9. Sharing:
A. Tenny update: Lew reported that new volunteer Carla Duke doing great, being very careful working with the aged horse, who stumbles.
B. Racing update: Besenfelder traveling, emailed, “Both 2yos are entered on Friday (9/14). Run Factor is running in race 4, post time 2:45, 5 furlongs, $12,500 claiming price. Love Solution is in race 7, post time 4:15, 1 mile on turf, $30,000 claiming price. Everyone is welcome to join OJ in the paddock and winners circle. Let me know if you do plan to go so I can tell him.” Camino to race Saturday after Thanksgiving.
C. A’s game: Eight club members attended event sponsored by Xenophon. Members noted ways club supports Xenophon – attending December benefit dinner, publicizing events, programs.
