10/8/18 Minutes
1. Meet, greet and sign in at 1 p.m., new attendees providing phone numbers, street and email addresses.
2. Denise Malvini called the meeting to order at 1:05 p.m. Present besides Malvini (from memory. I have lost or misplaced the attendance sheet): Rae Miller, Sandra Nordgren, Sheila Torres, Robbee Royce, Anne Shulenberger, Adi and Roberta Adins, David Besenfelder, Rosemary Fischer and Diana St. James.
3. September minutes: approved on motion by Torres, second by Royce.
4. Treasurer report: $625.15 bank balance; $32.88 petty cash, $658.03 total. Unanimously approved on motion by Royce, second by Shulenberger.
5. Librarian report: checkouts invited; collection of books, DVDs, magazines maintained at Royce’s home,1940 Skycrest, Entry 13, closed Tuesday mornings. Besenfelder donated several racing, general-interest horse magazines.
6. Old business:
A. Flea Market , Quarles donation: Angels for Minis Rescue visit possible. Motion by Miller to donate $300 to this group, then moved by Malvini to $500. Discussion, then approved on motion by Shulenberger, second by Royce.
B. Club members attended Sept. 29 Xenophon horse show, Sept. 16 mini-horse show.
C. Heather Farm Equestrian Center: Future looks dim; Landucci, Merkel and Miller attended first Your Parks, Your Future meeting, gave input on need to keep the site. More meetings, input opportunities coming.
7. New Business:
A. Miller, Torres to obtain possible dates in January for annual holiday party at Dollar Clubhouse when meeting Oct. 25 to reserve monthly meeting room.
8. Sharing:
A. Tenny update: Torres reported that horse is losing weight, hard to clean his hooves and he’s not eating hay due to tooth loss.
B. Racing update: Camino in stakes race Saturday after Thanksgiving, Run Factor racing at Fresno, Love Solution has ankle problem, filly Grazen by the Bay in training.
C. Merkel brought her book on Old Berkeley, which will be for sale at November bazaar; Julie Starr sent announcement of her exhibit of horse drawings at Studio 11 in Oakland; St. James showed photo of her new horse in training for dressage at Thomas Ranch, Orinda.
9. The meeting was adjourned at 2:08 p.m.
The club will not meet in December, the date for the holiday party is still to be determined.
The next regular meeting will be at 1 p.m. Monday, Nov. 12, 2018.
