11/21/2016 Meeting
1. Meet, greet and sign in, new attendees adding addresses to roster, at 4 p.m.
A. Mary Moreau called the meeting to order at 4:07 p.m. Present besides Moreau: Sheila Torres, David Besenfelder, Mary Dodds, Robbee Royce, Jennie Lew, LeeGale Gruen, Barbara Gilbert and Rae Miller.
2. Minutes for October were unanimously approved on a motion by Royce, seconded by Torres.
3. Treasurer Torres reported a petty cash balance of $19.20 and a bank balance of $275.23 with a total balance of $294.23.
4. Old business:
A. Racing update – Besenfelder reported winning races for two of his horses, and Horse Club members attended races at Golden Gate Fields, visited the pre-race stabling area and were photographed in the winners circle. Besenfelder to keep club updated on future races.
B. Librarian to house magazine donations .
5. New business
A. Rescue report – Lew visited Second Chance Ranch on recommendation of McDermott to explore volunteer opportunities. Owner did not provide specifics. Besenfelder noted newspaper report on closing of Richmond stables with many horses needing relocation, vets working with retired racehorses and racehorse rescue organizations.
B. Holiday plans – Royce to chair, Moreau to assist, Miller - PR. Potluck on Jan. 16, 4 p.m.
C. Tasha update – Lew, Royce and Miller watched riding lesson. Lew to ask if others from club could watch future lessons.
D. 2017 ideas for adventures, events – Miller to contact author, program chair to check on horse show schedule. Moreau noted Hidden Trails.com for riding opportunities.
6. Meeting adjourned at 5:15 p.m.
The next meeting is the Holiday Potluck on Monday, Jan. 16, 2017 at 4 p.m.
