1. Meet, greet and sign in, new attendees adding addresses to roster, at 4 p.m.
a. Mary Moreau called the meeting to order at 4:05 p.m.
b. Present besides Moreau were Robbee Royce, Rae Miller, Loreta Landucci, Kathie Paul, Tracy and Peter McDermott, Denise Malvini, Jennie Lew, Laura Bernell, Catherine Moustafa, and Sheila Torres..
2. Minutes of the Nov. 16 meeting were read and unanimously approved on a motion by Hoffpauir, seconded by Royce.
3. Treasurer’s report –
a. Dues for 2016 are payable, and those collected before they are due in May will not be due until May 2017.
b. Balance in the club account is $112.33 reflecting deposit of $35 in dues, $17.10 in petty cash, $89.77 in January party expenses and $30 refund of coffee/tea service. Unanimously approved on a Royce motion, seconded by Landucci.
4. The club now has 23 paid members, and Moreau thanked all who made our potluck/share horse items/prizes event a huge success. Hoffpauir noted the congeniality of the group and its support of club efforts.
5. Old business:
a. Activities Council– Seltzer not present to report on December meeting, and Kathy Paul confirmed that she would attend the Feb. 16 meeting. Miller to attend April meeting.
b. Web site – no update; Nordgren unable to attend.
c. Librarian – Royce to have list of holdings for March meeting.
d. Display case at Gateway: Royce, Paul and Miller to meet Feb. 26 at site.
e. Channel 28 publicity opportunity – Moreau to provide information
6. New business:
a. April election of officers: slate includes Denise Malvini, president; Jennie Lew, vice president; Rae Miller, secretary; Sheila Torres, treasurer. Further nominations are invited.
b. By-laws need revision to reflect change in officers and creation of a board of directors: four officers, a webmaster, librarian, activities coordinator and public relations chairman. Proposed revision of Article 4 Officers to be presented for vote at March meeting.
c. Letter from Rossmoor Counseling Service offering speaker: Offer declined
7. Activities and Opportunities
a. Moreau invited the club to meet Rossmoor horses, with Sunday afternoons agreed as best times. She will email dates.
b. Lew, Royce and Bernell provide grooming and exercise weekly for Tasha, the Arabian gelding whose owner wanted more human contact for him. More volunteers are needed, contact information provided.
c. Xenophon Dollar Day volunteers need for March 6 fundraiser at Golden Gate Fields; several expressed interest, and Miller will provide details.
